These men were trying so hard not to laugh at the performers across the street, it was funny to watch. All the business and street level residences were boarded up for the 3 days of Carnival!
Judging by the boards I take it they expect some violence or looting.
Nice photos and you are right some of them do come from Brick Lane, especially the one with Jamaica Lager Beer. I can visualize a few as I read the book.
